Laboratory test results:
- CBC: Within normal limits (WNL)
- Electrolytes: WNL
- Serum Calcium: WNL
- Arterial blood gases (ABG): WNL
- T3, T4, & TSH: WNL
- Vitamin B12 & folate: WNL
- Serum glucose: WNL
- BUN and creatinine: WNL
- Urinalysis: WNL; negative for porphyrins
- Liver function tests: Normal
- VDRL: Negative
Other test results:
- Skull x-ray study: No evidence of skull fracture or intracranial hemorrhage.
- Doppler ultrasonography did not reveal significant reduction of blood flow in the vessels of the head and neck.
- Electrocardiogram: normal rate and rhythm
- Electroencephalogram (EEG) showed a slowing of the main cortex rhythm.
- Computerized tomagraphy (CT) scan of the brain shows possible cerebral atrophy as evidenced by widening of subarachnoid spaces and brain ventricles.
